TELL CONGRESS: Stop funding the slaughter of Palestinians!
YES, THIS IS ANOTHER URGENT CALL TO ACTION ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF GAZA!
WHY THE URGENCY?
At least 58 Gazans were killed on Monday, May 14th along the fence that separates Gaza and Israel. The dead included children, a paramedic, and a person with disabilities. The people of Gaza were protesting nonviolently, but Israeli soldiers shot thousands with live ammunition. Israeli drones also dropped tear gas canisters into crowds, and sometimes into medical and family tents. Among the injured were over 300 children, 77 women, 10 journalists, and 3 paramedics. Over 1,000 were wounded by live ammunition, and at least 70 are in serious or critical condition.
TARGETING JOURNALISTS, MEDICAL PERSONNEL, AND CIVILIANS ARE WAR CRIMES.
And all this violence is being perpetrated on a people who have been suffering under occupation, blockade, and collective punishment (all of which are against international law) for years.
And this is happening while the new US embassy is opening in Jerusalem, leaving any hope of a peace plan in shambles.
Many Palestinians still – amazingly – look to America as their only hope. It’s up to us to turn the tide of opinion in our Congress. We need to share the facts about our money being spent by Israel to kill innocent people. And together, we need to say, loud and clear,
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Many organizations are calling on you to get involved, and If Americans Knew joins them. We encourage you to sign every petition; write and call your Congress people more than once; show up for a solidarity event in your city.
8 month old Laila Alghandour was killed on Monday in an Israeli tear gas attack while inside a tent near the Gaza border wall.
